Wholly managed by International Supply Chain (ISC), a specialist logistics unit of DHL Global Forwarding, and DHL Supply Chain, the contract logistics unit of Deutsche Post DHL, the 160,000 square feet facility is situated in the Tanjung Pelepas Free Trade Zone. The facility marks the fifth ISC regional hub in Asia, joining an established network of hubs in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Shenzhen, said the company.
TPP is Malaysia’s most advanced container terminal strategically located within the rapidly growing Iskandar region of Southern Malaysia. Just 15km from the Tuas border in Singapore, TPP is ideally situated for the import and distribution of products throughout Singapore and Malaysia. Equipped with advanced CCTV technology and excellent port security, DHL ISC’s 24 x 7 hub operations at TPP help global customers realize efficiencies in logistics costs by playing a key role in managing their global supply chains, said DHL.
“This hub in Malaysia is an important distribution point that will provide DHL’s customers easy access and operational benefits to transport their goods to and from Asia,” said Michael Lautenbach, vice president and Global head of Business Development for DHL Global Forwarding’s International Supply Chain product. “For many Americas companies, it can also enhance their global supply chain by benefiting them economically as a result of the hub’s Free Trade Zone status.”
DHL Global Forwarding’s International Supply Chain is a specialist logistics unit offering customers fully integrated, end-to-end global supply chain management solutions. ISC helps customers design, implement and manage highly efficient, tailored solutions based on the customer’s unique supply chain.
With many companies sourcing products from Asia and other key sourcing regions around the world, the ISC unit functions as the single point linking customers’ origin supply chains with their destination market requirements. This helps customers integrate and monitor their supply chains globally, helping them reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
“This capital investment to expand our global footprint in TPP Malaysia is a key part of our strategic growth plan. It is our goal to be the provider of choice for our customers by driving greater efficiencies in their global supply chain. We are fully committed to supply chain innovation to ensure that we are a strategic partner to our customers,” said Garrick Pold, Global Head of DHL International Supply Chain.
